14th November - AFC Dunstable 0 Hoddesdon Town 1

A well taken Mark Summers goal midway through the 1st half, was enough for Hoddesdon Town to take all 3 points back to Hertfordshire. It could have been a lot worse for AFC, if keeper Ricky Perks did not pull off 2 superb saves late in the game.

With the conditions not conducive to flowing football, the visitors adapted the best and showed more desire and urgency which was the difference between the two teams.

AFC were again without the leagues top scorer BJ Christie due to injury and added to that, skipper Moses Olaleye was absent as he toils with his knee and Josh Humbert with a dead leg.

Both teams in the early exchanges seemed to cancel each other out. It took a sublime finish from Summers on 23 minutes to break the deadlock. A neat move saw him break clear of his marker to finish well under pressure. The remaining play of the 1st half was pretty much even as both teams tried to contend with the conditions.

Half time: AFC Dunstable 0 Hoddesdon Town 1

AFC were hoping to compete more after the break, but it was the Lillywhites who should have doubled their lead 5 minutes in. A header from close range was somehow cleared off the line and that kept the score at 1-0. The home side were finding it hard to create chances and without the scoring exploits of Christie, it was becoming obvious, the Hoddesdon defenders were on top in that region. The closest AFC came to bothering Hoddesdon's keeper, is when a Courtney Massay cross found Brandon Carney at the far post. His looping header back across goal flirted with the cross bar but no one was on hand to put the ball away.

With the game entering its last 10 minutes, the visitors started to up the pressure and when Perks pulled off his 2 wonderful saves, they still kept AFC in the game. The home side though could not take inspiration from his saves and Hoddesdon took the points.

A philosophical AFC boss Steve Heath said after the game " without doubt Hoddesdon deserved the win today. It has been a difficult 10 days to contend with and it is sods law, that we have had injuries to influential players at this time. We have had 3 very tough league games that have come around, but we will just have to get on with it, as I have great belief in my squad and all the players are pulling in the right direction"
