18th March - AFC Dunstable 1 Hanwell Town 0

As it was for AFC's last home game, it was a very late goal, that secured the points and keep up the pressure on all the other play off contenders.

By contrast, this game was the complete opposite from the away game in West London back in December. The only similarity was the half time scoreline of 0-0. The 2nd half exploded with goals as AFC ran out 4-2 winners.

One change was made from the win at Fleet Town. Bill Morgan was rested due to a slight illness, so Leon Cashman slotted back into centre back and Josh Humbert earned a recall.

The game was slightly ruined by the swirling wind, as both sides tried their hardest to come to terms with it. The first real chance fell to the visitors on 12 minutes as a flying header just missed the target.

AFC responded with two good chances from Jermaine Hall and BJ Christie. Firstly Hall produced a decent strike at goal but Hanwell's keeper tipped it over the bar. Then Christie worked himself an opening. Unlike him, he got himself into a good position 15 yards out but pulled his effort wide.

With half time approaching, Hanwell had a great chance to take the lead but Bill Healey shot struck the bar.

With the wind still taking a major part in the game, both sides really went to town to create openings. The half was unfolding into a hard fought but fair contest. Both sets of players gave everything but chances were few and far between.

Then with 15 minutes remaining, a sickening clash between AFC keeper Garry Malone and Hanwell's Healey saw the striker come off worse. The game was held up for a good 6 minutes as he received attention.

The game was now coming to a close and with 88 minutes gone, Courtney Massay hit a free kick into the visitors box. A sliced clearance struck their upright and the ball fell kindly to Christie, who put away the rebound.

There was no more time for Hanwell to respond and 3 wins on the bounce in the league for AFC saw them move up a place to 4th.

AFC boss Steve Heath reflected on the game saying "it was so pleasing to see a game played to the extreme by both sides that did not give an inch. It shows games can be played like this and if officiated properly, no cautions were handed out"
