8th April - AFC Dunstable 1 Egham Town 2
It was a case after the Lords Mayor Show, that AFC made it 2 losses on the bounce at Creasey Park. After the jubilation of the County Cup win on Tuesday, it was always going to be tough to hit the ground running against play off chasing Egham.
This was proved, as AFC were a shadow of themselves in the 1st half as the visitors could have had the game won in that period. Taking an early lead through Elliott Carey, it seemed every time the Sarnies ventured forward, it looked like they would increase their lead.
Saying that, AFC had a wonderful chance to draw level on 24 minutes. From a Newman Carney free kick, the ball found it's way to an unmarked Nathan Frater at the far post. Unlike him, he put his header wide of the mark.

Hoping to increase the tempo after the break, Leon Cashman replaced Courtney Massay to see if that had the desired affect. Early on it was not to be as Egham doubled their lead. Top scorer Brendan Matthew rounded AFC's keeper Garry Malone to slot home.
At least that goal sparked AFC into life and chances started to be created. On 72 minutes they had the ball in the net but it was ruled out for offside. 6 minutes later the OD's were back in the game. Following on from a corner, a well taken overhead kick from sub Adiel Mannion pulled a goal back.
Within a minute of the goal, BJ Christie nearly drew AFC level. Breaking forward, he was denied by the feet of Jamie Norris in the Sarnies goal.
AFC were now piling on the pressure, to the extent Malone was coming up for corners. They just could not force another goal and the visitors went home with all 3 points.
AFC manager Steve Heath was frustrated with the 1st half performance saying " we just did not get going and Egham could have been out of sight. I did not think that Tuesday nights exertions would take anything out of the team but obviously it did in the 1st half. We rallied in the 2nd half but just could not force an equaliser. With 3 games left, it is still in our own hands to qualify for the play offs"
