23rd August. AFC Dunstable 1 St Margaretsbury 6
A crazy 12 minute 1st half spell decided this encounter, as the visitors hit 4 goals of which the home side had a helping hand in at least 2 of them.
For the first 14 minutes, what was to come was not predicted. Damien Pickering in for the unavailable Wayne Mills was caught on the wrong side and pushed over Ricky Light in the box, Mark Summers blasted home the spot kick. A piece of sublime skill by Jermaine Hall drew AFC level.
AFC first helping hand happened on 19 minutes when they were awarded a free kick in a dangerous position. A poor delivery was easily cleared and St Mags broke with pace and Summers made it 2-1. The same story happened again, when yet another AFC free kick was squandered and it was the same result as Matt Mitchell was the recipient. Nothing could be done with Mags 4th goal as Mitchell hit a worldly 25 yarder which found the top corner. Static defending let in Summers to complete his hat trick with only 26 minutes on the clock and the game was over as a contest.
Half time: AFC Dunstable 1 St Margaretsbury 5
AFC had to improve in the 2nd half or their record defeat was on the cards. Manager Steve Heath decided to make some changes and his formation and to be fair competed a lot better. They started to test the visitors keeper and could say were unlucky not to pull back a couple of goals.
To end a bad day, another mistake contributed to St Mags 6th as Joss Lillis was gifted the ball and he finished well on 76 minutes and 2 minutes later Moses Olaleye picked up his 2nd yellow card.
After the match AFC Manager Heath was a bit lost for words " how can you explain that 12 minutes, all I can say lets get onto the next game at Wembley"
