27th September - Bedford Town 2 AFC Dunstable 1

A 2nd league defeat of the season, saw AFC drop back to 9th place in a game that they never really got going. Looking to break into a play off place, 2 goals in a 6 minute period in the 2nd half, saw them with a mountain to climb and a point might have been pinched with the pressure they exerted in the dying moments of the game. In truth, the Eagles deserved all 3 points, as they created more chances than AFC and Ricky Perks made 2 great saves in the 1st half to keep the scoreline blank at the break.

The visitors started the game very brightly and pushed Bedford back for the opening 10 minutes. The hosts slowly got back into the game and with Perks two saves kept AFC in the game.

Half time: Bedford Town 0 AFC Dunstable 0

The opening 15 minutes of the 2nd half was AFC's downfall. Giving away a cheap free kick, Adam Watkins whipped in a mean free kick which saw ex OD Nathan Frater head home on 54 minutes. Six minutes later it was 2-0 when from a AFC corner, Bedford broke with pace and Newman Carney had no option to pull back the Bedford striker. From the resulting penalty, Luke Knight fired it home.

To be fair to the visitors, on 66 minutes BJ Christie pulled a goal back and it was game on. The night was turning into a feisty affair as a few yellow cards were being brandished. With time running out, AFC went all out for the equaliser but it was not to be.
