1st April - Petersfield Town 0 AFC Dunstable 7

It was AFC's longest trip of the season down to the leafy suburbs of Petersfield and they came away from Hampshire with their biggest win of the season.

A well known fact is that the Rams are going through a tough time at the moment. With their manager walking out a half time last month, a 8-0 defeat to Barton Rovers 2 weeks ago and only have one sub today, it was an uphill task to say the least, as they found themselves 2-0 down within the opening 8 minutes.

BJ Christie opened the scoring after only 5 minutes when Petersfield's keeper Connor Beattie misjudged the bounce of the ball as the AFC striker tapped into an empty net.

Christie had a big hand in the visitors 2nd when his cross was redirected into his own net by Matt Andrews.

Having heard from other clubs that the pitch at Love Lane was not the best, AFC soon saw for themselves that it could be a minefield. A very bobbly uneven surface was the main concern to all the players. That was the case when Jermaine Hall broke the offside trap on 13 minutes. As he raced towards goal, the ball was moving from left to right, but somehow he managed to keep calm and score.

Hall should have had his 2nd 6 minutes later when a great cross from Nathan Frater was headed over. Then the pitch nearly helped Petersfield pull a goal back. As a cross came in, the ball hit the surface and reared up and nearly took AFC keeper Garry Malone by surprise.

With half time approaching, the visitors notched 2 goals in a minute. Firstly Terry Griffiths slotted home at the far post, then Hall got his 2nd after good work by Christie.

With the game won, it was now a case of coming away unscathed on the injury front, as AFC boss Steve Heath decided to make a few changes.

On the hour Christie thought he had scored his 2nd goal of the afternoon. He did everything right as he chipped the keeper, but as the ball hit the surface, the same demon that produced the unexplained bounce in the first half, raised its head again and somehow the ball went over the bar.

With 15 minutes remaining on the clock, AFC finally got their 6th. A neat move involving sub Adiel Mannion and Christie saw Hall completed his hat trick and 29th league goal of the season.

It was looking like the visitors would have to be happy with 6-0. Then a Newman Carney cross was stabbed home by his brother Brandon to make it 7 in the dying seconds.
